Is Bo-Jo really a player?

Much has been written about the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson's (Bo-Jo) great speech about 'ping pong coming home' after the Beijing olympics. But I wonder if he actually plays. I just picked up this article from the Times in London that would seem to indicate that he does.

Next time I'm in London I'll have to look him up and try to schedule a little session of wiff-waff. If anyone has an inside track to the great man, let me know.

As the inventor of Hexapong (a game that Wally Green has played with cell phone in hand) I received this info from friends I've made in UK about Bo-Jo

I saw a little bit of him once on TV playing against a kid from a youth club. It looked like the kid was using a nasty amount of backspin and that Bo Jo returned the ball quite well until the kid made a mistake but it was a 15 second segment and it was hard to tell how seriously he takes it.

The former Conservative leader Michael Howard was a confessed table tennis fan appearing on TV a number of times being asked about it. In fact he spoke so well I was convinced he could play a really decent game. Then I saw him in a charity event and had my illusions shattered.

Whatever the standard it is nice when some people with decent access to the press and TV speak about it. We need all the positive publicity we can get.

Thanks Guy. I will press on with Bo Jo. I'm not sure I could face interviewing Michael Howard!
